The Happ App — a service of Bright Sail Company, LLC

https://thehapp.app

Effective date: August 19, 2026  •  Last updated: September 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Bright Sail Company, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”), operator of The Happ App (“the App”), collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website at https://thehapp.app and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

The Service is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. See “Children’s Privacy” below.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide.

  • Account information — such as your email address, password (stored in hashed form), and any display name or profile details you add.
  • User content — events you submit, suggestions, favorites, feedback, and messages you send through the Service.
  • Communications — information you provide when you contact support or participate in surveys or promotions.
  • Referrals — if you refer someone or are referred, we process the information needed to run the referral (for example, the referring account and referral status). Only share another person’s information if you have permission to do so.
  • Business information — if you use business features, the business name, contact details, listings, and billing information you provide. [If you take payments, note your payment processor below.]

Information collected automatically.

  • Location information — to show nearby events and deals and to power map features, we may collect approximate location (for example, from your IP address) and, if you grant permission, more precise device location. You can control location permissions in your device or browser settings.
  • Usage and device data — such as pages viewed, features used, links clicked, badges earned, device and browser type, and general log information.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the Service is used (see “Cookies” below).

Information from third parties.

Event and deal listings are compiled from public and third-party sources; that content is about organizers, venues, and businesses rather than about you. We may also receive limited information from service providers such as analytics and mapping providers.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, personalize, and improve the Service, including showing relevant nearby events and deals;
  • Create and manage your account, and enable community features such as messaging, favorites, submissions, and badges;
  • Run referral and rewards programs;
  • Communicate with you about your account, updates, and — where permitted — news and promotions (you can opt out of marketing at any time);
  • Maintain safety and security, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms;
  • Analyze usage and measure and improve performance;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as described here:

  • Service providers — vendors that host our infrastructure, provide analytics, mapping, email delivery, and (if applicable) payment processing, acting on our behalf under contract.
  • Other users — content you choose to make public (such as public submissions or a display name) and messages you send are visible to their intended recipients.
  • Partners — if you engage with a deal or partner offer, information necessary to fulfill or measure that offer may be shared with the partner. [Describe any partner data sharing precisely; if any sharing could be considered “sharing” for cross-context advertising under California law, disclose it and offer an opt-out — see Section 8.]
  • Legal and safety — when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or us.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

4. Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember your preferences and login, and understand usage. We may use analytics tools that set their own cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect functionality. We display a cookie notice on first visit explaining how cookies are used; you can dismiss it to continue using the Service.

5. Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it. Backups and public content shared by others may persist for a limited time after deletion.

6. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including hashing passwords and restricting access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Protect your account by using a strong, unique password and keeping it confidential.

7. Your Choices and Rights

  • Access and update — you can review and update account information in your profile settings.
  • Delete your account — you can request deletion of your account and associated personal information through the profile settings in the App or by contacting us.
  • Marketing opt-out — you can unsubscribe from promotional emails using the link in those emails or in your settings; we may still send essential account and service messages.
  • Location — you can adjust or revoke location permissions in your device or browser settings.

8. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to: (a) know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you and how we use and share it; (b) request deletion of your personal information; (c) request correction of inaccurate personal information; and (d) not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.

Sale/Sharing. We do not sell personal information for money. If any of our partner or advertising practices constitute a “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law, you have the right to opt out; you can do so by contacting us at hello@thehapp.app and we will process your request.

To exercise your rights, contact us at hello@thehapp.app. We will verify your request (typically by confirming control of your account email) and respond within the time required by law. You may use an authorized agent where permitted.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Service is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Although the App helps adults find activities for children, we do not intend for children to create accounts or submit information. If you believe a minor has provided us personal information, contact us at hello@thehapp.app and we will take steps to delete it.

10. Third-Party Links

The Service links to third-party websites, venues, mapping providers, and partner offers. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, which we do not control. Review those policies before providing information to a third party.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice through the Service. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
